Barrett Attack Ad: Desperate Attempt to Hide from Record as Wisconsin’s #1 Polluter

Wauwatosa – Scott Walker campaign manager Keith Gilkes released the following statement on Barrett’s desperate attack ad to divert attention from his record as Wisconsin’s biggest polluter.

“It’s ironic that only hours after Scott Walker calls Tom Barrett out on his record of dumping 8.2 billion gallons of sewage into Lake Michigan – after Barrett promised in 2004 “No raw sewage dumping” – Barrett decides to launch attack ads filled with desperate lies about Scott,” said Gilkes.  “Barrett even ran ads PROMISING he would clean up the lake. 

We’re not surprised to find yet more proof that Tom Barrett’s campaign promises are full of, well… you know what.”

 

FACT: Scott Walker Strongly Supports the Arizona Immigration Bill ?
Walker: “If I were governor of Arizona, I too would sign the Arizona immigration bill.  As Governor of Wisconsin, I will sign legislation that strengthens our protection against illegal immigration and ensures that taxpayer funded benefits like Badger Care, in-state tuition, and drivers’ licenses are not available to those who are here illegally.”

 

FACT: Scott Walker Opposes Smoking Ban

FACT: Scott Walker Won’t Raise Taxes
Scott Walker has introduced eight consecutive budgets without a property tax levy increase from the previous year, cut his debt by 10%, reduced the workforce by 20%, and even had an $8.9 million surplus in his most recent budget.

FACT: Tom Barrett WILL Raise Taxes
In 1993 as a congressman, Barrett voted for the largest tax increase in federal history to hike taxes by $241 billion. While in congress, Barrett voted AGAINST small businesses 80% of the time. In congress, Barrett voted against almost every effort to relieve taxes, including efforts to reduce and repeal the marriage penalty and death tax.

 

In congress, and as mayor, Barrett has supported extremist environmental policies, which threaten over 100,000 Wisconsin jobs. Barrett has raised taxes and fees in EVERY budget he’s presented since being elected mayor, including last year’s 4.4% hike to the property tax levy.
