Wauwatosa – Keith Gilkes, campaign manager for Scott Walker, released the following statement on the second negative ad from the Barrett campaign in two weeks. Today’s ad comes on the heels of reports about the 2004 promise by Barrett to end raw sewage dumping, as well as polling this week by Rasmussen Reports that has elevated Wisconsin’s governor’s race from a “Toss Up” to “Leans Republican.” ??
“It’s complete hypocrisy for Tom Barrett to air a desperate ad saying he’s a ‘straight shooter,’ but the reality is his entire attack ad is based on a big fat lie,” said Gilkes. “Unlike Tom Barrett, Scott Walker’s campaign has been focused on sharing Scott’s record of keeping his promises to the taxpayers, and his vision for the state of Wisconsin. Just like Barrett’s broken promise in 2004 to stop raw sewage dumping, Barrett will say anything to get elected.” ??
Barrett’s TV ad begins by saying “Scott Walker’s blaming Tom Barrett for unemployment” and screen shots an ad that is not sanctioned by Scott Walker’s campaign, but is, instead, one aired by the Republican Governors Association. By law, campaigns cannot coordinate with third party groups when it comes to TV advertisements.
Tom Barrett’s Toilet… um, we mean Lake Michigan:
