Wauwatosa – Scott Walker’s campaign for governor today announced its volunteers, staff, and Scott Walker himself would attend 150 parades over the Fourth of July Weekend in 65 counties, more than doubling last year’s total.
“We will continue to set the pace for other campaigns with our grassroots efforts,” said Walker. “I plan to work hard to share with every corner of our state with my plan to bring 250,000 private sector jobs in my first term, but we could not continue to have this kind of success without the work of our thousands of volunteers and for that I thank them.”
Fourth of July Weekend will be the latest in a series of efforts demonstrating Scott Walker’s support among grassroots activists. On June 26th, the Walker campaign worked with the Republican Party of Wisconsin to make 41,894 phone calls and knock on 4,584 doors in just twelve hours. On Memorial Day, Walker volunteers distributed 40,000 brown bags at 40 parades around the state. Scott Walker received the endorsement of thousands of grassroots supporters at the GOP state convention with 91.3% of the vote. As a result of these efforts, Scott Walker leads Tom Barrett by seven points and has the most support of any candidate with Independents, Republicans, and conservatives, according to Democratic pollster Public Policy Polling.
