Walker Turns in Nomination Forms to State Election Commission
Wauwatosa – Scott Walker, Milwaukee County executive and candidate for governor, surrounded by supporters, today turned in his nomination forms to have his name placed on the ballot to run for governor. Walker supporters and volunteers collected over 15,000 signatures from every single county in Wisconsin.
“I’m thankful for the overwhelming support of grassroots volunteers and supporters from every county in Wisconsin who worked hard over the past few weeks to get me on the ballot,” said Walker. “The momentum and support for our brown bag message to lower taxes, reign in spending, and shrink government continues to grow, and I’m thankful for the 15,000 citizens who said ‘yes’ to my plan to get Wisconsin back to work.”
The massive grassroots power of the Walker campaign continues to be demonstrated. This weekend,
Walker volunteers attended 150 parades across Wisconsin, with Walker attending 8 parades himself. On June 26th, the Walker campaign worked with the Republican Party of Wisconsin to make
41,894 phone calls and knock on 4,584 doors in just twelve hours. On Memorial Day, Walker volunteers
distributed 40,000 brown bags at 40 parades around the state. Scott Walker
received the endorsement of thousands of grassroots supporters at the GOP state convention with 91.3% of the vote. As a result of these efforts,
Scott Walker leads Tom Barrett by seven points,
Mark Neumann by 39 points, and has the most support of any candidate with Independents, Republicans, and conservatives, according to Democratic pollster Public Policy Polling.
