Walker Campaign Launches Television Ad: Results
Wauwatosa – The campaign for Scott Walker, Milwaukee County executive and candidate for governor, today released a television ad entitled, “Results,” detailing Scott Walker’s record as Milwaukee County Executive.
“High taxes, high unemployment, and government mismanagement in Washington and Madison have forced Wisconsin families to find ways to do more with less,” Walker said.
“Wisconsin’s government should follow the example of its people and cut back too. We have proven that by limiting the size of government, keeping the tax burden in check, and giving people more freedom to run their daily lives, we can deliver higher quality services while letting people keep more of their own money.”
The ad directs viewers to Walker's website www.brownbagmovement.com, which lists Walker’s “Brown Bag Guide to Government”
- Don’t spend more than you have.
- Smaller government is better government.
- People create jobs, not government.??
Walker and his wife Tonette have given $370,000 of Scott’s salary back to the taxpayers from 2002 through 2010. He drives a 1998 Saturn with more than 100,000 miles on it and packs his own brown bag lunch to save money in his family budget.
Walker approaches his county budget the same way, cutting out waste to do more, with less. Since his election in 2002, Walker has cut the county debt by 10%, reduced the county government workforce by 20%, and introduced eight consecutive budgets without an increase to the property tax levy from the previous year. Scott Walker recently announced an $8.9 million surplus, which will be returned to taxpayers in the form of a cut to the property tax levy next year.

| Scott: | "In 2002 a pension scandal rocked Milwaukee County. The guy who had the job before me tried to grab millions for himself and his friends.
We had enough. We took back our government. In fact, the first thing I did was to give part of my salary back to the taxpayers - $370,000 over eight years. I cut the government workforce by 20% and I introduced eight budgets without raising the property tax levy from the previous year. While Washington and Madison run up big budget deficits, we had an $8.9 million surplus. They say you can’t cut waste without sacrificing services; they’re wrong. We invested in our airport and today it’s one of the fastest growing in America – adding nearly 1,000 new jobs. We eliminated the waiting list for long-term care for our seniors. We even won the gold medal for the best parks in the country. Want less government and lower taxes? I’m Scott Walker and I know how to get the job done. Join us at BrownBagMovement.com.” |
