Scott Walker Calls for Immediate Halt on Early Release for All Prisoners

Wauwatosa - Scott Walker, Milwaukee County executive and candidate for governor, today released the following statement calling for an immediate end to any early release of prisoners.

“Putting dangerous criminals back on our streets is a crime against the people of Wisconsin, especially victims, and I call on Governor Doyle to immediately halt all early releases of prisoners in Wisconsin.  During the height of last year’s budget debate I asked every single DA and Sherriff across the state to join me in calling for an end to this dangerous practice of letting these thugs back onto our streets, while Mayor Barrett remained silent.  The bill introduced today is the right step to prevent future early releases, but Governor Doyle can go even further by ending this practice today.”
