Says Republican has leadership, vision to run state
Scott Walker supported Mark Green for the governor's race four years ago and now Green is returning the favor.
"I believe Scott can be, and will be, the next governor of this state," Green said Monday as he endorsed the Republican candidate at Titletown Brewing Co., 200 Dousman St.
Green is a former Congressman who represented Wisconsin's 8th congressional district from 1999 to 2007. He said Walker has the vision and leadership to run the state.
Walker, Milwaukee County executive, has said he plans to lower taxes and cut spending.
Walker dropped out of the governor's race in 2006, citing trouble fundraising. He went on to endorse Green, who lost to Gov. Jim Doyle.
Doyle confirmed on Monday he wouldn't seek re-election to a third term in 2010.
