MADISON - Republican candidate for governor Scott Walker doesn't want the Legislature to take any votes late at night.

Walker said today that if elected he would push for a law banning any votes between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m.

Democratic challenger Tom Barrett's spokesman Phil Walzak says Barrett doesn't mind working late on bills that will create jobs and help the economy.

The Legislature would have to first pass a bill limiting voting hours before the next governor would even get an opportunity to approve it.

The Senate routinely gets its business done during normal working hours but the Assembly frequently works late into the night. On Tuesday it didn't adjourn until after the sun rose Wednesday morning.

Both Walker and Barrett are former state Assembly members.
