Britney Klaetsch, Fond du Lac, UW-Madison '12

I am a St. Mary's Springs Academy alumna, a student at the University of Wisconsin and a concerned Wisconsinite.

As a student, I am investing in my future by educating myself. While I trust UW-Madison will prepare me for success in the workplace, upon graduation I am not sure I will be able to find a job in Wisconsin. I worry that I will soon be forced to leave my home of nearly 20 years in search of work.

Wisconsin is among the highest taxed states in the country. Our skyrocketing tax rates are supporting runaway government spending, and the only thing this has translated into is a bad environment for fostering job creation.

To make matters worse, not only are we failing to create new jobs, but we are also losing current jobs. Over the last year, the Badger State lost 130,000 jobs, and this regrettable cycle has not yet seen an end.

Scott Walker has a real solution to Wisconsin's fleeing jobs. He has committed himself to making sure all Wisconsin residents who want work are able to find it.

In order to achieve this goal, Walker has constructed a promising plan of action. He recognizes that the best way to make Wisconsin an attractive place for businesses is to cut taxes and apply regulatory and fiscal policies.

Tax cuts and incentives will encourage small businesses to increase growth and production in Wisconsin, instead of driving them to do so beyond our borders. Our governor should acknowledge the importance of a strong job market and a booming economy. Governor Doyle has let us down on this and many other fronts.

Scott Walker is prepared to set Wisconsin on track to a brighter future, and I am fully prepared to help him get there.
