Appleton Post-Crescent
APPLETON — M&I Bank filed official notice Friday of its planned layoffs in Appleton.
The Milwaukee-based bank said 154 workers would be displaced by Nov. 2 in the notice of mass layoff filed with the Department of Workforce Development. The move does not impact banking operations, the company said.
In mid-July, M&I announced that the jobs would be eliminated from the downtown Appleton City Center when it relocates its customer account processing operations in Brookfield by year's end.
M&I said about 700 people would remain working in Fox Valley positions once consolidation of backroom operations is complete.
The bank said the move will save money and increase efficiencies.
