Scott Walker: Committed to Milwaukee County

Safety

As the father of two young boys, I understand your concerns about the well-being of your family and share your determination to overcome violence in our community.

Without a sense of security, nothing else matters. Improving our safety is a chief priority, and I work relentlessly to ensure that we are creating a positive environment in which to live, work, and raise a family. As County Executive, I work extensively with the Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement organizations to protect our well-being. I have provided funding to enhance the patrol of our parks and lakefront, as well as programs that aim to save youth from cycles of crime.

Affordability

If we are to continue to grow as a county – attracting jobs and residents – we must reduce our enormous tax burden. From the retiree on Social Security to the young entrepreneur longing to start a new business, tax relief is essential for us to realize our potential.

As County Executive, I have written six consecutive budgets that do not raise the property tax levy from the previous year. The budgets are responsible and innovative, finding ways to maintain services for less.  While other politicians merely talk about lowering taxes, I have proven my commitment to reducing our tax burden and fostering true growth in our county.

Pride

The realization of our goals comes through the creation of an environment in which we can take pride.

There are countless reasons to be proud of our great community. Mitchell International Airport continues to break travel records, and construction around the county topped $1.1 billion last year. People are interested in what we have to offer, and we must continue to give incentives for them to take root in Milwaukee. Beyond this, we have a thriving culture in Milwaukee – from an award-winning park system and zoo, to a beautiful lakefront. We must continue to support these valuable assets.

By fostering a culture of growth and empowering our citizens with the ability to succeed, we can hope to leave this community a better place than it was found.
